It is easier to find copies of even the latest Tamil movie releases from the internet. Most of these movies are camera prints made from movie theatres. These illegal copies are usually made on the first day of the theatrical release causing pain to those who put their time and energy in making those wonderful movies . The recording quality is nearly as good as the original. This illegal movie theft is causing Tamil film industry crores of rupees every year.

Most of the time criminal gangs are behind these recordings and in the manufacture of pirated CD’s. Once these pirated CD’s are out, they are uploaded to video portals like YouTube by teenagers, computer professionals and even housewives .The motivation could be the revenue they receive from these video portals  or just for the thrill of
doing something illegal.

Like any other business entity, the film industry relies on the profit from these productions to survive.  Hundreds of people are involved in the making of a movie. These hundreds of people represent hundreds of families that make a living from the revenue it generates. The profit made is further invested creating more job opportunities. There are many related industries and businesses that benefit directly or indirectly from the film industry. Like movie theatres, Digital studios, Software makers, equipment makers etc. etc. Those who engage in movie piracy are in fact making the life difficult for thousands  of people who make a living out of it.

The glitter and glamour of film industry may give a wrong impression to an outsider. It is a risky business where many lives are destroyed than created. I personally know a few movie producers who lost everything they have after investing their money in it.
As a first step MyTamilGirl.com will not be publishing the links of pirated movies in our website. We request fellow webmasters to do the same. People who download pirated films or buy pirated DVD are doing exactly what a shop lifter does.  We are being a party to the thieves by downloading and watching pirated movies. The temptation is high when the latest movie is available free of charge on thenext day of release. For us the NRI’s most of the time that is the only way we can watch a desi movie. I have to admit that I am also guilty of doing that. A habit I desperately want to change.

Let us take a pledge that we won’t be encouraging movie pirates with our actions
